Should You Buy a Gaming Monitor on Amazon Prime Day 2023? - IGN

When it comes to PC gaming, the display can be just as important as the PC itself. If you have a powerful desktop with the latest and greatest graphics card, you need a gaming monitor that makes proper use of all that power. Whether that’s a beautiful 4K monitor with high refresh rates or a solid 1080p monitor with extra bells and whistles is up to you, but a good gaming monitor can make all the difference.

With Amazon Prime Day arriving on July 11-12, it’s the perfect time to think about upgrading your computer monitor situation. Brands like Samsung, Acer, Dell, LG, and more have traditionally all offered discounts on everything from high-end to budget gaming monitors. If you’re in the market for deals on gaming monitors, then Prime Day is one of the best times to buy outside of Black Friday.

What Gaming Monitor Deals Should You Expect on Amazon Prime Day?

Although we don’t yet know what gaming monitors will be on sale during Prime Day 2023, we do have a decent idea of what will go on sale based on previous years. First up is Samsung’s high-end Odyssey monitors that have traditionally seen some deep discounts on Amazon. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 for example is one of the best ultrawide monitors you can buy and it will likely drop down near $1,000 during Prime Day – making it potentially affordable. On the opposite end of that spectrum is the Samsung Odyssey G5, which has dropped as low as $370 in the past, which is really affordable for an ultrawide option.

If you’re looking for a standard gaming monitor under $300, you can also likely expect to find the Acer Nitro series for fairly cheap. These monitors can drop down near $100 for a 24-inch display with AMD FreeSync included. We also expect to see a few Alienware deals on their more popular models, including curved monitor options.

Do Other Retailers Have Gaming Monitor Deals on Prime Day?

Although Amazon tends to have some of the best gaming monitor deals on Prime Day, they aren’t the only retailer that will have discounts during the summer sales event. Both Walmart and Best Buy will have their counter sales running during this time and tend to offer comparable discounts on popular monitor brands. Newegg has also joined the fray this year with its own version of Prime Day sale, so that’s another great place to look for discounts on monitors as well as PC components.

Outside of the main retailers, you can also expect discounts from the manufacturers themselves. Dell and HP usually have traditionally had some decent discounts during these sales days that are worth checking out. The Dell Black Friday in July sale has already begun, offering deals on PCs, laptops, and gaming monitors.

Should You Buy a Gaming Monitor on Prime Day or Wait for Black Friday?

Black Friday may be bigger in terms of total number of sales, but Prime Day tends to be fairly comparable when it comes to tech. If you’re looking for a discount on anything other than the latest gaming monitor models, you should be able to find a really good price. So if you don’t want to wait until November to get yourself a gaming monitor for a discount, you really don’t have to.

That being said, there can be some pretty big price differences in high-end gaming monitors between Prime Day and Black Friday. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 for example dropped to its absolutely lowest price on Black Friday last year and hasn’t gone that low since. So if you’re holding out for an upgrade to one of the top of the line gaming monitors, it may behoove you to wait until Black Friday 2023 to save an extra $100.
