There are lots of great mobile games out there, and you can stream games either from the cloud or your PS5 or Xbox. But for many games, using touchscreen controls isn’t ideal. That’s where the Backbone controller comes in. It clamps onto your phone and lets you use great-feeling controls to play your games. It normally sells for $100, but right now Amazon has the Android model of the Backbone on sale for $69.99. For one model, it's not even a Prime Day deal, so you can get the sale price without being a member.
Backbone One Controller for Android Is on Sale
The Backbone comes on two models: a black one and a white one modeled after (and officially licensed by) PlayStation. The latter one even has triangle, square, cross, and circle buttons.
There are other reasons the Backbone costs more than your average mobile controller. The build quality is excellent, for starters. It just feels good to use. It uses a USB-C connection to attach to your phone, so you get basically no latency and you don’t have to battle with Bluetooth.
It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port you can use to charge your phone while the controller is on it, or to play on a bigger display, like a TV or monitor. There’s also a free Backbone app that lets you know which games are compatible, and lets your capture video of your in-game feats. Check out our Backbone One review for more info.
