Samsung Exynos 1330, Exynos 1380 chips announced with faster performance - SamMobile - Samsung news

Samsung has finally announced its new mid-range Exynos processors for Galaxy A smartphones. While the company had mentioned the Exynos 1330 during the Galaxy A14 5G launch last month, it did not fully reveal its specifications and capabilities. Now, the company has released that information along with the features of the Exynos 1380. Both new chips are 5G compatible and bring faster performance to the table.

Let us have a look at their feature set and specifications.

Exynos 1380 brings two additional high-performance CPU cores and 200MP camera support

The Exynos 1380 is a 5nm chipset with four ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz, four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2GHz, and the Mali-G68 MP5 GPU clocked at 950MHz. It can drive Full HD+ displays at a refresh rate of 144Hz. It is compatible with LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 DRAM chips and UFS 3.1 storage.

Its integrated Triple ISP can handle up to 200MP camera sensors with 64MP resolution with zero shutter lag. The NPU inside this new Exynos chip can compute up to 4.9TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second), slightly higher than the Exynos 1280. The ISP also supports 4K 30fps video recording with EIS. It supports HDR and real-time object recognition for improved camera performance.

The built-in 5G modem supports mmWave and sub-6GHz networks, reaching peak download speeds of up to 3.67Gbps and upload speeds of up to 1.28Gbps. There is support for BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and USB Type-C port. This chipset will be used in the Galaxy A54 5G.

Samsung Exynos 1330

The Exynos 1330 is Samsung’s first entry-level chipset using a 5nm process. It has two Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz, six Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2GHz, and the Mali-G68 MP2 GPU. The new Exynos chip can drive Full HD+ resolution displays at a 120Hz refresh rate. It is compatible with LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 DRAM chips and UFS 2.2/UFS 3.1 storage. Looking at its specifications, it seems like a slightly tweaked version of the Exynos 1280.

The ISP inside the Exynos 1330 supports up to 108MP cameras and can capture 32MP images with zero shutter lag. A dual 16MP+16MP camera setup is also supported with zero shutter lag. The MFC (Multi Format Codec) can record and play 4K 30fps videos in HEVC, H.264, and VP8 codecs.

Connectivity features of the Exynos 1330 include a built-in 5G modem capable of sub-6GHz 5G networks. It can reach up to 2.55Gbps peak download speeds and 1.28Gbps upload speeds of 5G networks. BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and USB Type-C ports are also supported. This chipset has already debuted inside the Galaxy A14 5G, and we expect to see it in more lower-end Galaxy A series smartphones.
