Halo Infinite campaign co-op details revealed - TrueAchievements

Halo Infinite's long-awaited campaign co-op and Mission Replay features are finally set to roll out as a beta test this week, and 343 Industries has detailed what we can expect to see via a developer livestream.

It's been a long time coming, but it looks like we'll finally have a chance to play through Halo Infinite's campaign with three other friends this week when the feature enters its beta testing phase much the same way as the initial Halo Infinite multiplayer launch. A recent 343 Industries livestream, which can be found on the official Halo YouTube and Twitch channels, details everything we can expect to see with the new feature, as well as Mission Replay.

Halo Infinite campaign network co-op flight preview livestream

Halo Infinite is paving the way for a new campaign co-op system for the series, by allowing all four players in the fireteam to make shared campaign progress. You'll each need to designate a save slot before starting, which will then allow the game to autosave your progress as you all play. The save slot will be usable for any solo or co-op play after the fact, but when you do party up with your friends again, the game will automatically load you into the furthest part of the game each player has reached on that save slot.

Due to Infinite's open-world setting, 343i has added a 1,000-foot tether for all players, so you'll not be able to run off on a quest of exploration while your pals are fighting for their lives. If you do walk off too far you'll be killed for "going AWOL," but that's if your teammates don't decide to take advantage of the new friendly fire feature to kill you off first. Enemy difficulty levels will scale to the number of players in a fireteam, so your participation will greatly help out your friends, whereas your need to constantly disappear on a jolly might entice them to fire a rocket at your arse.

Co-op lobbies will allow players to select any Skulls they've found on that save, even if only one of you had picked it up. Each collectable can be found and collected by each player, though, so you can put together a group collectable run if you so wish. Even better, if you do miss a collectable from a mission you've completed, or fancy switching to a different mission mid-game without losing the progress you've made in the current one, the fireteam leader can use the new Mission Reply feature via the TacMap — this will also be available in the solo mode as well.

We can expect to see both the co-op and Mission Replay features added to Halo Infinite via a beta phase before the end of this week. It'll also be accompanied by a handful of new achievements for you to unlock. Will you be putting a fireteam together? Let us know down in the comments, Spartans!
